League Make-up

Each team plays 22 games against teams in their division and 12 games against teams outside their division for a total of 162 games played.

The regular season is 18 weeks long. The playoffs and Super Tournament are the following 6 weeks. There are no games or transactions during the All-Star Week.

Each team has a roster size of 31.

In the continuous leagues, the 4 playoff teams keep 10, the 4 middle records keep 11, and the bottom 4 records keep 12.

The pick order for the redraft will be based on team records through week 12. This will prevent teams from trying to "tank" to get a better pick position. If a team makes the playoffs they will automatically pick between 9-12. The redraft is done by a daily pickup for 19 days during March of the following year.

Tanking

Losing on purpose or "Tanking" will not be permitted under ANY circumstances.

Negligence is not tanking. If someone is not paying attention and doesn't make lineup changes, it is not considered tanking.

If someone is caught blatantly tanking, they will be penalized and will not be able to change their lineup for the rest of the season.

It is up to the members of each league to monitor and alert the Commissioner of anyone trying to lose on purpose.

Draft

The Draft will consist of 29 rounds in which each team picks once per round.

The team that picks first in the 1st round, picks first in the 3rd, 5th, 7th, etc., and picks last in the 2nd, 4th, 6th, etc.

The draft order is determined by random envelope selection.

The Draft is conducted via call-in conference number. It takes roughly two hours.

NOTE: There is no cost for the phone draft.

Player Positions

Each player is only eligible at a single position at the beginning of the season.

Positions are determined for the present season by where a player is projected to play, NOT where that player played the previous season.

If a hitter plays 5 games at an additional position, then he is also eligible to play that position the following week.

If a pitcher has 3 or more starts, then he is eligible as a starting pitcher. If a pitcher has 3 or more relief appearances, then he is eligible as a reliever.

Scoring System

The Hitting points are scored as follows:

  • Single = 1 pt
  • Double = 2 pts
  • Triple = 3 pts
  • Home Run = 4 pts
  • RBI = 1 pt
  • Run Scored = 1 pt
  • Stolen Base = 1 pt
  • Walk = 1 pt
  • Note: Hitting for pitchers does not count.
  • If the hitter has no points and no At-Bats then it is as if he did not play.

The Pitching points are scored as follows:

  • Starting Win, Relief Win, or Save = 10 pts
  • CG Win = 15 total pts
  • No-Hitter Win = 25 total pts
  • Perfect Game Win = 35 total pts
  • If the pitcher wins or gets a save, the pitcher scores (IP-ER) x 2. If the pitcher does not win or get a save, then he scores (IP-ER) x 3. (Innings are always rounded down.)
  • A pitcher cannot score negative points.
Hitting Lineup

Every week your hitting starting line-up includes:

  • C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, 3 OF's, DH (doesn't have to be a DH).
  • Each team starts up to 7 First backups:
  • Backup Catcher
  • Backup 1B
  • Backup 2B
  • Backup SS
  • Backup 3B
  • Backup Outfielder
  • Backup DH (doesn't have to be a DH)
  • You can also start Second Backups, Third Backups, and Fourth Backups at the 7 backup positions.
  • Backups are not required at all 28 positions.
Pitching Lineup

There are 4 lineup formations that can be used in your pitching lineup:

  • 10 starts, no relievers
  • 8 starts, 1 reliever
  • 7 starts, 2 relievers
  • 5 starts, 3 relievers

  • Each week you rank your starting pitchers in order of preference. You also designate what formation you want for the week. After the week is over, the starters on your staff fill the allotted starts based on the ranking you chose before the week started.
  • For example, at the start of the week, Chris Sale is your 1st pitcher, Jacob deGrom is your 2nd, Aaron Nola is your 3rd, etc. Chris Sale pitches twice this week. So therefore, his 2 starts are your 1st and 2nd starts for the week. Jacob deGrom pitches once so therefore his start is the 3rd start. Aaron Nola pitches twice so his starts are the 4th and 5th start. This process proceeds until the starts are filled.
  • If only one more start is needed and the pitcher it falls to pitched twice, the average score rounded down counts as the last start.
  • If you chose a formation involving relievers, you rank your relievers in order of preference before the week starts. The reliever has no limitations on games played or points scored.
  • If a pitcher does not play for the week, it falls to the next pitcher on your list. This applies to starters and relievers.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Any appearance made by a pitcher listed as a starter will count as a start. So be wary of pitchers who might get relief appearances.
Weekly Scoring

For each of the starting hitters, 7 games count or if more than 7 games played, then the average multiplied by 7 rounded down.

If the starter does not play 7 games, the backup player fills in as follows:

If the backup player plays more games than games needed by the starter, then you divide the total points of the backup player by the number of games played and insert the average for each game needed.

For example, Ronald Acuna, Juan Soto, and Mookie Betts are your outfielders. Acuna and Soto played in 6 games and Betts played in 5 games. The 3 outfielders totaled 17 games out of the 21 needed. Your backup OF, Mitch Haniger, played in 6 games and scored a total of 16 points. (An average of 2.66 per game). Since Mitch Haniger played more games than games needed, Haniger scores (21 games - 17 games = 4 games needed) x 2.66 = 10.64, rounded down to 10 backup points.

The same rule applied for your backup catcher, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, and DH backup.

The Backup only counts if the starter plays less than the 7 games needed.

Wins and Losses

Your total score for the week is compared to the total score for the 3 teams you played. Those you outscored by 50, you sweep 3-0. Those that outscored you by 50, swept you 3-0. If those situations do not apply, then the higher scoring team wins the series 2-1.

The winner in the case of a tie will be the team with the highest scoring contributing player.

If the highest scoring players are also tied, the winner is the team with the second highest scoring contributing player. If the two teams are still tied, then the winner is the team with the third highest, etc.

The first week of the season, each team plays two 4-game series and one 1-game series. The same rules apply as before, but when there is a tie in the 4-game series, then the series is split 2-2.

Injured List

The Injured List allows you to carry up to three injured players without losing a roster spot. When a MLB team puts a player on the IL, you are eligible to put that player on your IL the next day. When the player comes off theIL in MLB, you have 7 days from that day to take that player off your IL.

If the player is not removed by the 8th day since coming off the IL, the player will be waived. NO EXCEPTIONS! If you cannot pay attention to when a player is coming off the IL and you don't want to lose that player, then don't put that player on your IL.

A IL move can be made at any time. When you take him off the IL, you can either waive someone outright or put someone else that is eligible for the IL in his place.

Trades

Once two teams agree on a trade, each team must submit the trade to the Mr. Sports website. The trade entered needs to be identical in order for the trade to be presented for approval.

The Commish will Approve or Veto all trades on a daily basis. The Commish has the right to reverse a trade if it is found out collusion is involved OR there looks to be blatant dumping of players to give an unfair advantage to one team.

There is no trading limit. No cash or "player to be named later" trades will be allowed.

Trading of Future Picks is allowed from Week 1 until the Trade Deadline if a team has paid half of the league fee for the following season ($85 for Major League, $125 for Expert League)
Example: Both teams agree on a trade which involves a pick for next season. BOTH teams must pay half of the following season's league fee for the trade to be allowed, NO EXCEPTIONS! Should you choose to not retain your team next season, the fee will NOT be refunded.

The Trade Deadline is first pitch Monday after the All-Star break. For 2024, the deadline is first pitch July 22nd.

Pickups / Free Agents

There are two rounds of pickups on a weekly basis.

The order of pickups each week is determined by the Standings of the just completed week. The 12th best team gets 1st pick, 11th best 2nd and so on. If two teams have the same record, the lower total scoring average determines the order. Should the scoring average be the same, then the lowest hitting average determines the order.

Schedule of pickups are as follows:
RD 1: posted each Saturday at 11:00am EST (8:00am PST)
RD 2: posted each Sunday at 11:00pm EST (8:00pm PST)
Note: these times subject to change based on any update from The Commish posted on the Baseball Homepage and/or email.

If a player is waived to complete a trade or waived in round 1 transactions, he is available to be picked up the same week. If a player is waived for a transaction for round 2, he is not available to be picked up until the following week.

Transactions can be made through the League Finals.
For the playoffs, a transaction period will be available during the second week of the 1st and 2nd round for ALL teams in continuous leagues and playoff teams ONLY in one year leagues.

Playoffs

After 19 weeks of play, the top team in each division and the top team that did not win the divisions advances to the playoffs.

If two teams have the same win total, the tie-breaker is scoring average, then head-to-head record, then pitching average.

Teams will be seeded according to record. Best record No. 1 seed and will play the playoff team with the worst record as the No. 4 seed. The other two playoff teams will play one another as the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds. This occurs during weeks 21-22.

The team with the better record, higher seed, and higher scoring average gets 1 point per difference in total scoring average before the playoff round starts.

A wild card team cannot have homefield over a divisional winner, even if they have the better record and average.

If two teams are tied after the two weeks the winner is the team with the highest contributing player over the 2 weeks. If still tied, then second highest, etc.

If the team with the higher seed has the worst average, there is no advantage for either team in the Finals.

The two winning teams play during weeks 23-24 of the season with the highest scorer declared champion of the league and advances to the Super Tournament.

The same tie breaking rules apply to the Finals as in the semi-finals.
